Social change hairdressing at the Desert Festival

I joined Mel Balkan to deliver a social change hairdressing salon as part of the 2017 Desert Festival in Alice Springs, along with the wonderful Manon Piat.

We crimped, shaved and styled our way through four big nights of wild desert style, celebrating the unique aesthetic which is so striking in remote and central Australia. We didn’t even stop when the power dropped out for a few minutes!

As always, we focused on creating a shared experience of an inclusive and diverse public space to help us all reflect on the importance of trust, vulnerability and fun in creating a healthy society.
